Abstract

Developing the professional competence of teachers in schools is a must, considering that teachers are the spearhead of learning. Meanwhile, the principal as a leader who has the function of supervisor has a strategic role in improving the professionalism of teachers in schools. Based on the problems above, the focus of this research is (1) to describe the level of intensity of supervision of the principal at SD Gugus Jenderal Soedirman Purbalingga; (2) describe the level of professional competence of teachers at Gugus Jenderal Soedirman Purbalingga Elementary School; (3) explain the relationship between supervision intensity and increased professional competence and student learning outcomes. This type of research is descriptive quantitative research with a population of 11 school principals, 11 class teachers and 190 students. The sampling technique for this research uses a purposive sampling technique. The sample in this research is 11 school principals, 11 class V teachers and 66 class V students. used for data research are the interview method, questionnaire method and documentation method. The data analysis used is quantitative descriptive analysis, contingency correlation test to determine the effectiveness of supervision on professional competence and student learning outcomes at SD Gugus Jenderal Soedirman Purbalingga. This research shows the results that supervision has a significant effect on teacher professional competence as evidenced by (1) the level of supervision intensity at Gugus Jenderal Soedirman Purbalingga Elementary School showing an average of 55.4% in this category is good; (2) the professional competency level of teachers at Gugus Jenderal Soedirman Purbalingga Elementary School shows an average of 57.8% in the good category; (3) the relationship between supervision variables and professional competence is 95.31% in the very strong category; (4) the relationship between the professional competency variable and learning outcomes is 94.52% in the very strong category.
