Dance extracurricular activities at SMPN 2 Suradadi are usually carried
out by memorizing movements from the dance teacher in stages. The material taught
includes classical dance, traditional dance and creative dance, which is generally
focused on competitions or special events. However, this learning process has
weaknesses, namely that it only focuses on certain dances, with limited time to
introduce traditional Central Javanese dances and without an introduction to their
synopsis and history, so students' knowledge about dance is still lacking. This
research uses the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method to develop
a system which is expected to provide new innovations and facilitate understanding
of Central Javanese traditional dances. The application developed has an
introduction feature along with dance videos, which are expected to increase
students' knowledge and understanding of Central Javanese traditional dances.
