Abstract

Character education is now one of the main concerns in learning. Character
education is also a benchmark in shaping the personality of a nation. The
character in this research fokuses on social care which is already familiar, many
studies have discussed it, even in several previous studies, showing a decline in
the social care character of students, as well as based on the results of initial
observations and interviews, it shows that students have not implemented the
caring character optimally. social in the school environment. This research aims
to describe the character of social care, habituation efforts and strategies, as well
as the level of social care character of students in social studies learning at SD
Negeri Melung Kecamatan Kedungbanteng Banyumas, Kedungbanteng District,
Banyumas. The research uses qualitative descriptive methods. The informants in
this research were school principals, teachers and students. Data collection
techniques in research include interviews, observation and documentation
studies. Data analysis techniques include data collection, data reduction, data
presentation, and drawing conclusions. Testing the validity of the data uses a
credibility test, including source triangulation then followed by technical
triangulation. The results of the research show that the social care character of
social studies learning has been maximized, students in learning can reflect the
character of social care, mutual help, cooperation and politeness, as well as
empathy for friends and supporting factors with socialization before learning and
obstacles in the presence of students who are addicted to cellphones. playing
games. The teacher's strategic efforts are carried out in social studies learning by
including a syllabus and lesson plans that are integrated with caring for others,
conveying the value of social caring character in learning, activities provided by
teachers in learning such as group discussions, role playing, project-based to
train solidarity, as well as variations in models and methods. learning, making
agreements and class beliefs. The level of social care character of students in
social studies learning has reached the KKM and there have been positive
changes in students such as: ) sharing social activities, 2) having a sense of
empathy, 3) acting politely and politely and being tolerant of differences, and 4)
being able to work together.
