Abstract

Interaction is one of the basic needs of every living creature, especially humans. Humans, as social beings, require interaction in their daily lives with the surrounding environment, regardless of limitations or differences in physical or cognitive conditions. Children with hearing impairments require social interaction to develop their abilities. This raises a question for researchers: how are they able to interact with the limitations they have? Thus, researchers conducted this study to understand the process of social interaction among children with physical limitations, as one of the stages in child development. This study used a qualitative research method, which presents data in written form (not numerical). Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation to understand how Social Interaction with Hearing Impairment occurs in the TK B Srambi PAUD Center Purwokerto. The results showed that in social interaction, children with hearing impairments require specific stimulation. They interact and communicate using gestures, lip movements, and facial expressions. Additionally, attention and touch from those around them also significantly affect their social process, as these actions make children with hearing impairments feel more valued and accepted in their environment.
