Abstract

This study aims to create an English textbook infused with Islamic values
tailored for use in extracurricular courses at Al Azhary Islamic Boarding Schools
in Ajibarang. The development of such a textbook is crucial to support students'
learning within the Islamic educational environment. This study employed a
research and development approach to address several key inquiries: 1)
identification of students' needs regarding the English textbook's development, 2)
implementation of the English textbook development process integrating Islamic
values, and 3) evaluation of the developed English textbook's validity through
expert assessment. Following the ADDIE model, the research procedures
encompass various stages: need analysis, design of extracurricular course
materials, material development, product validation, and implementation. The
research participants include religious experts, English teachers, and Al Azhary
Islamic Boarding Schools students. Two types of experts—language and design—
validate the product's integrity. Data collection methods include observation,
interviews, and questionnaires. Results indicate strong validation scores from
experts and students, ranging from 3.4 to 3.85 and 3.75 to 3.84, respectively,
demonstrating a high level of acceptability. Consequently, the English textbook
integrated with Islamic values suits the extracurricular English course at Al
Azhary Islamic Boarding Schools.
