Abstract

This study aims to describe students ability to think critically in solving
mathematical problems at SMA N 1 Larangan (Public Senior High School 1 of
Larangan Sub-district) viewed from sequential thinking styles on trigonometry
material. It was a qualitative descriptive study. The data obtained from
questionnaires, written tests, and interviews. Questionnaire results data were used
to determine students' sequential thinking style. The results of the questionnaire
were the basis for grouping student categories. The results showed that (1)
respondents who have concrete sequential thinking style tend to have the ability to
analyze information, find ways, and conclude but have not demonstrated the ability
to evaluate, (2) respondents who have abstract sequential thinking style tend to
have just the ability to analyze information and the ability to find ways but have not
demonstrated the ability to conclude and evaluate.
