Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the form of reduplication, the function of
reduplication, and the meaning of reduplication in the novel Dua Garis Biru by Lucia
Priandarini and Gina S. Noer. This was a qualitative study. The data were the words
that were reduplicated in the novel. The data source was a novel as the reference. The
data were collected by reading and note-taking techniques. The results confirmed that
there were forms of reduplication, reduplication function, and meaning of
reduplication with a total of 98 words which consisted of 72 words reduplication, 15
partial reduplications, 9 words combined with affixing process, and 2 reduplications
with phoneme changes. There were 98 words in the reduplication function; 37 words
in the noun reduplication function, 44 words in the verb reduplication function, 12
words in the adjective reduplication function, and 5 words in the adverbial
reduplication function. There were 98 words in the meaning of reduplication, with 38
meaning a lot, 31 meaning a lot but not related to the word being explained, 4 words
expressing meaning that is similar to what is in the basic form, 13 meaning many
times or repeatedly, 10 meaning casually or happily, and 2 meaningful words
expressing the intensity of feelings.
