This research aims to improve students' curiousity and science learning
achievement of fifth grade in SD Negeri Watuagung in natural events topic
through Meaningful Instructional Design (MIID) learning model. The subject was
24 students of fifth grade. It was conducted in two cycles. The data collection used
was test and non test. The data analysis used was curiousity questionnaire,
observation sheet of teacher and students activity, and evaluation sheet. The
result revealed that there is improvement of students' curiousity and learning
achievement. The mean score of students' curiousity in cycle I is 2.88 with good
criteria and the mean score of students' curiousity in cycle II is 3.32 with very
good criteria. The mean score of students' learning achievement in cycle I is 68.1
with good criteria, while the mean score of students' learning achievement is 82.4
with very good criteria. The mean score of teacher activity observation in cycle I
is 3.14 with good criteria, while the mean score of teacher activity observation in
cycle II is 3.73 with very good criteria. The mean score of students activity
observation in cycle I is 2.39 and the mean score of students activity observation
in cycle II is 3.34 with very good criteria. It can be concluded that learning using
MIID model improves students' curiousity and science learning achievement of
fifth grade in SD Negeri Watuagung.
