This study aims to describe the mathematical problem solving ability of students SMA N 4 Purwokerto viewed from Hippocrates-Galenus typology personality type on Statistics. This research is a descriptive-qualitative study. Subjects of this research were students off class XI MIA 1 of SMA N 4 Purwokerto. The subject selection was using purposive sampling consisting of two students as respondents for each personality type. The technique of data collection used Miles and Huberman model. Technique of data collection using test, interviews, and documentations. The result shows taht problem solving ability to (1) the sanguineous student: they have understood the problem but less complete, they do not plan a solution, they directly perform calculations without checking the result, (2) choleric students: they have understood the problem, they have made plans though sometimes less precise, they are able do the calculations, but do not check the result, (3) melacholic students: they have understood the problem, draw up the plan and perform structured calculations, but do not check the result, although sometimes they have been able to interpret the result, (4) phlegmatic students: they have understood the problem but have not been able to explain it using their own language, they have drawn up a plan with with general formula and they are able to do the calculations, but they do not check the result.
