Abstract

The study aimed to explain the blended learning process, to find out the roles of parents and the obstacles in the implementation of blended learning during the pandemic times of grade V at MIM Pasirmuncang. It was a qualitative study. The data were collected using interviews, observation, and documentation. The subjects and informants in this study were the principal, the teacher of class V, and the students' parents. The data were analyzed by doing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of the study indicated that 1) the learning process at MI Muhammadiyah Pasirmuncang during the pandemic times was carried out by blended learning, namely face-to-face and online learning. In online learning, various applications were used such as WhatsApp, Google Classroom, and Youtube. 2) The role of parents was to facilitate their children by providing internet and cellphone quotas for online learning. Some of them also assisted their children during online learning and the rest of them could not assist since they were busy at work. 3) The obstacle for parents in the blended learning process was especially time-constrained online learning. Even, it was more difficult for the parents whose children were difficult to manage. The limitations of parents in understanding the materials were also becoming an obstacle in the online learning process. It can be concluded that the blended learning process during the pandemic times for class V MIM Pasirmuncang runs effectively, and the roles of parents in the blended learning process are very important in terms of assisting and facilitating children in online learning. The barriers to parents in the blended learning process can be minimized by spending time and studying the children's learning materials.
