Abstract

Santosa, Imam. 2020. The Implementation of Scientific Approach in Teaching
English at SMK N 2 Purwokerto. Thesis: Study Program of English Education,
Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Universitas Muhammadiyah
Purwokerto.
This research aims at finding out the stages that the English teachers apply
in the Scientific Approach in SMK N 2 Purwokerto and learning model that the
English teachers use in applying the Scientific Approach in English Language
Teaching in SMK N 2 Purwokerto. Descriptive qualitative was used as the
research method. The subjects were three English teachers of SMK N 2
Purwokerto. In the process of collecting data, three techniques were used namely
observation, interview, and document analysis. For enhancing the validity of the
data, source triangulation and method triangulation were used. This study
reveals that all teachers applied observing stage, questioning stage, collecting
information stage, and associating stage, while the communicating stage was not
applied by all teachers. In addition, discovery learning model was used by all
English teachers in applying Scientific Approach.
