Abstract

This descriptive qualitative research aimed to describe mathematical communication skill reviewed from self-regulated learning on students of SMP Negeri 1 Kalibagor. The subjects included the students of class VIII G. The samples were taken using purposive sampling and three rspondents were chosen from each category of high, fair, and low self-regulated learning. The data were collected using questionnaires, tests, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman model which included data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The validation test used the data triangulation technique. The results showed that students in the category of high self-regulated learning had good mathematical communication skills because they were able to master three indicators such as stating a problem, explaining an idea and situation based on a problem, and interpreting a problem into a picture. Students in the category of fair self-regulated learning had quite good mathematical communication skills because they were able to master three indicators such as stating a problem, explaining an idea and situation based on a problem, and interpreting a problem into a picture. Students in the category of low self-regulated learning had poor mathematical communication skills because they were able enough to master the indicator of stating a problem, explaining an idea and situation based on a problem, but they had not been able to master the indicator of interpreting a problem into the picture.
