Abstract

The study aimed to improve students' critical thinking skills and learning achievement through listening team strategy on theme 8 Places where I live in grade IV SD Negeri Karangsari. This study was a Classroom Action Research (CAR), which consisted of two cycles with one meeting in each cycle. This study implemented 4 steps from Kemmis and Mc Taggart model; planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research subjects were 22 students. Data collection tools employed were tests and non-tests. In cycle one, the critical thinking skills of students obtained an average of 3.5 or in good criteria and improved into 4.02 or in good criteria in cycle two. The results of the test illustrated an improvement in the learning achievement of the participants, it was proven by the results of the test indicated which was appropriate to the studied material. The students' classical completeness in social studies ranged from 73% to 77%. In the Indonesian subject, completeness was stable from 55% to 82%. The results of this study indicated that the implementation of the listening team strategy could improve students' critical thinking skills and learning achievement on theme 8 Places Where I Live in grade IV SD Negeri Karangsari.
