Abstract

This study aimed to determine the feasibility of a traditional game model in Central Java for mathematics learning and developing cooperative character on the second grade students of elementary schools. This research was an R&D of Borg and Gall, namely: (1) Research and data collection; (2) planning; (3) product draft development; (4) initial field trials; (5) revising the trial results; (6) field tests; (7) improvement of the product of field test results. Validation was carried out by 2 experts; material experts and linguists, the initial field trial consisted of 20 second grade students of SD N Locondong, and a field test consisted of 38 second grade students consisting of 21 students of SD N Menganti and 17 students of SDN Pesawahan. Analysis of the expert, practitioner and student questionnaire instrument data analysis used the Guttman scale and used a scale 5 assessment category. The results of expert validation at the first stage to validate the initial draft of the product demonstrated a percentage of 87.5% with the category of "very feasible", at the second stage of validation products conducted by experts and practitioners after the initial field test indicated a percentage of 93.33% in the category of "very feasible", and product validation at the third stage conducted by experts and practitioners after the field trial showed a percentage of 100%, with the category of "very creditable ". The results of the responses of students in the initial field trials by 20 students showed a percentage of 96.69% with the category "excellent" and the results of a field trial by 38 students consisting of 21 students showed a percentage of 97.14% with "excellent" category and 17 students showed a percentage of 96.86% also with "excellent” category. Based on the results of the validation of experts, practitioners and the students' responses the researchers concluded that the products of the Central Java traditional game model were exceptionally appropriate to be applied for mathematics learning and could develop the character of cooperation among students.
