Abstract

This study aimed to determine the profile of the interaction between teachers and
students in online learning Biology on grade XI of Science 7 class at SMAN 1
Ajibarang based on FIACS (Flander Interaction Analysis Categories System).
Flanders classifies verbal interaction into ten categories of interaction including
acceptance of feelings, praise or encouragement, acceptance of ideas, questions,
teaching, direction, criticism, students responses, students initiative, and silence
or confusion. The ten categories of interactions classified by Flanders will form
an interaction pattern including the percentage of Teachers' speech, Students'
speech, Silent or Confused, Teachers' Response Ratio, Students' Initiative Ratio,
and Indirect-Direct Ratio. This was qualitative descriptive and the data were in
the form of recordings, observations, and interviews. The results of the research
at the first meeting showed that learning was teacher-centered with the
interaction pattern of the Teachers speech at 73.8%, Students Speech at 18.4%,
Silence or Confusion at 7.7%, Teachers Response Ratio at 44.1 %, the Students
Initiative Ratio was 5%, and the Indirect-Direct Ratio is 1.4. The results of the
study at the second meeting showed that learning was student-centered with the
interaction pattern of the Teachers speech at 50.3%, the Students Speech at
49.7%, Silence or Confusion at 0%, Teachers Response Ratio at 73.1%, Students
Initiative Ratio at 13%, and Indirect-Direct Ratio at 0.6. The factors that
influence the results of interaction patterns in Biology online learning in class XI
science 7 SMAN 1 Ajibarang are learning methods, learning media, learning
facilities (signals), and the environment (crowd) around students when learning
takes place.
