Abstract
Sunlight has detrimental effects on the skin, such as tanning, sunburn, premature aging, and can cause skin cancer. The use of sunscreen is an effort to protect the skin from the detrimental effects caused by sunlight, where
the ability of a sunscreen to protect the skin by delaying erythema is stated as SPF (Sun Protection Factor). This study aims to determine the SPF value and total flavonoid content of ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction and ethyl acetate patikan kebo (Euphorbia hirta L). Method: Extraction using maceration with 96% ethanol solvent, liquid-liquid fractionation with n-hexane and ethyl acetate solvent. The
total flavonoid content used the AlCl3 colorimetric method. The determination of the SPF value was carried out using UV-Vis spectrophotometry at wavelengths from 290 to 320. The determination of the SPF value is based on the Mansur equation. Results: The ethanol extract had the highest total flavonoid content than n-hexane and ethyl acetate fraction. The total flavonoids respectively from ethanol extract, n-hexane and ethyl acetate fractions were 22,801 % ± 0,475; 22,367 % ± 0,588 dan 22,509 % ± 0,378. Ethyl acetat fraction has the highest sunscreen activity compared to ethanol extract and n-hexane fraction. The SPF value of ethanol extract was 9,959 ± 0,835, the n-hexane fraction was 4,594 ± 0,344 and the ethyl acetate fraction was 22,017 ± 0,732. Conclusion: Ethanol extract, n�hexane fraction and ethyl acetate patikan kebo (Euphorbia hirta L) have flavonoid
