Abstract

The aim of this research was to know whether Magic Disc is effective or not in teaching telling time for the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sokaraja in academic year 2018/2019. The method of this research was quasi experimental research. The samples of this research were 33 students from VII A as the experimental group and 32 students from VII B as control group. The experimental group was taught using Magic Disc, while the control group was taught using conventional technique. Test was used to collect the data from the experimental and control group. The test was divided into two sections, namely pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was given for both of groups, before giving the treatment, while post-test was given after giving the treatment. The pre-test and post-test consisted of 20 multiple choices and 5 short answers. T-test formula was used to analyzed the data. Based on the data anslysis, it was found that t-test score was 2,469 while t-table score at the level of significance 0.05 for degree of freedom 63 was 1,66940, so t-test was higher than t-table (2,469 > 1,66940). It meant that Magic Disc was effective in teaching telling time for the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sokaraja in academic year 2018/2019. In conclusion, the hyphothesis which stated that the use of Magic Disc is effective for teaching Telling was accepted.
