Hyperglycemia is a major problem for people in Indonesia with a prevalence of 8.4 million people in 2000. Various types of therapeutic treatments have been widely recommended including metformin as conventional medicine for first-line treatment in type 2 DM. WHO has recommended the use of traditional medicines in health care society, prevention and treatment of disease. Currently the problem of effectiveness in achieving blood sugar reduction targets is still a problem for conventional antihyperglycemia therapy and scientific herbal medicine. In addition, the amount of costs incurred for each therapy is also a consideration for patients in determining the type of therapy to be chosen. Based on these problems, it will examine the cost effectiveness analysis between scientific antihyperglycemia herbs with a combination of conventional antihyperglycemia. The research design used was observational analytic and data analysis using the Incremental Cost Effectiveness Ratio (ICER) method and interpreted using the Cost Effectiveness Plane (CEP). Retrieval of cost data uses the perspective of the provider as a health service provider. Respondents were 63 patients, consisting of 31 patients with conventional antihyperglycemia combination therapy at Kalibakung Health Center, and 32 patients with antihyperglycemia scientific herbal therapy at Kalibakung Herbal Medicine. The results of the percentage of the effectiveness of the success of conventional antihyperglycemia combination therapy reached 61.29%, while the percentage of the effectiveness of the success of the scientific treatment of antihyperglycemia herbs reached 68.75%. The average total cost per patient for conventional antihyperglycemia combination therapy is Rp. 375,251, for antihyperglycemia scientific herbal therapy as much as Rp. 336,354. The data was then analyzed by ICER and an ICER value of Rp -8,240 / patient was obtained.
