Abstract

FDT Antacida is one of the fast-breaking tablet preparation strategies to neutralize stomach acid in some patients who have difficulty swallowing. Superdisintegrant needed by FDT to make it destroyed faster, SSG is a superdisintegrant that has been studied before. However, the increase in SSG as a superdisintegrant is inversely proportional to the value of acid neutralizing capacity as an antacida preparation. Avicel PH 101 is combined with SSG as a crushing agent to reduce disintegration time and increase the value of acid neutralizing capacity. The research aims to optimize the concentration of a combination of SSG superdisintegrants and Avicel PH 101 FDT antacids. The optimum formula is determined by the Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) method of Design Expert software with two variables, namely the disintegration time and the value of acid neutralizing capacity, so we get 8 run formulas. The tablets made by using of wet granulation method. Tablets were tested for physical properties of weight uniformity, hardness, friability and disintegration time and the value of acid neutralization capacity. SLD analysis results using Design Expert software, the combination of SSG and Avicel PH 101 can reduce the disintegration time and increase the neutralization value of antacid acid FDT. The optimum formula obtained using the SLD Design Expert software is 38 mg SSG and Avicel 101 mg with a desirability with value of 0.523.
