Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one type of degenerative disease that has increased every year in countries around the world, based on data from the Banyumas District Health Office (2016) the number of DM patients as many as 1939 sufferers. It is possible for many DM patients who do not comply with taking the drug. Compliance with taking medication plays an important role where if the patient adheres to taking medication, blood sugar can be controlled. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the personal message method and the digital pill box reminder method on patient compliance and to determine the effectiveness between the method of giving personal messages and digital pill box reminder. This study uses an experimental design method where there are interventions or treatments given to research respondents. Using a sample of 32 respondents divided into 2 groups, namely the personal message group and the digital pill box reminder group. and data were analyzed using unpaired t-test for medication adherence and paired t-test for blood sugar levels. The results of this study showed that medication compliance was obtained p value 0.004<0.05, so there could be a difference between the personal message group (SMS) and the digital pill box reminder group, but the two interventions were proven to improve medication compliance, so the second GDS result the group experienced a decrease in the pre and post intervention results.
