Antacids containing aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide are made into fast disintegrating tablets to be more practical and effective in delivering the effects of antacids into the body. This study aims to determine the effect of Sodium Starch Glycolate concentration as a superdisintegrant in fast disintegrating antacid tablets. Tablet formulation was designed using Sodium Starch Glycolate as an independent variable with a concentration of 10-20% made by wet granulation method. The fast disintegrating tablet formulation was tested for tablet physical properties and acid neutralizing capacity. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively and statistically so that the effect of Sodium Starch Glycolate on the characteristics of fast disintegrating antacid tablets. The results showed that Sodium Starch Glycolate can be used as a superdisintegrant in fast disintegrating antacids tablets and affect the physical properties of tablets, which increases the hardness of the tablet, accelerates the disintegration time of the tablet, and decreases the neutralizing capacity of stomach acid.
