Abstract
Background of this study was low student learning activity and achievement in class IV B of SD Negeri Pasir Wetan on theme 9. This study aimed to improve students' learning activity and achievement through cooperative learning model of Snowball Throwing with box as the media. It was a classroom action research conducted in 2 cycles Each cycle consisted of 2 meetings. Subject in this study was 20 students of class IV B of this school consisting of 12 male students and 8 female students. This study used test and non-test instruments. The test instrument used in this study was evaluation sheets and non-test instruments used in this study were observation and learning activity sheets. Data of learning activity attitude scale was obtained from the observation sheets of the students' learning activity and the data of students' learning achievement was obtained from the evaluation sheets. Results of the study showed that the activity of learning obtained an average value of 2,44 in cycle I and 3,04 in cycle II. The improvement of students' learning achievement in cycle I on sub-theme I and sub-theme 2 of science obtained 55% learning mastery and Indonesian obtained 65% learning mastery. Student learning achievement in cycle II on sub-theme 2 and sub-theme 3 of science obtained 80% and Indonesian obtained 82,5%. It can be concluded that the cooperative learning model of Snowball Throwing with box as the media can improve students' learning activity and achievement in class IV B of SD Negeri Pasir Wetan.
