Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of identity
card as a media of teaching wh-question. This research was conducted at
SMP Muhammadiyah Sumbang in academic year 2011/2012.
The quasi experimental research was held on Sept 11 – Oct 2-
2012. The total sample was 75 subject. The subjects were divided into two
classes ; 39 subjects from class 8A as an experiment class and 38 subjects
from class 8D as an control class. The experiment group were thought
with identity card as media in teaching wh-question. For collecting the
data, the writer used test as an instrument. The test was done twice, they
were pre-test and post-test.
The result computation shows that the identity card is effective in
teaching wh-question especially on the second year students of SMP
Muhammadiyah Sumbang. It could be seen from the t-test result which
was 6,96 and the value of t-table with the degree of freedom 75 was 1,667.
Since the t-test was higher than t-table (6,96 >1,667), it could be
concluded that identity card was effective in teaching wh-question.
