Principle and Politeness Principle In Manga Shin Chan English Version.

This research is aimed to observe humor in the implementation of theories of
Speech Act, Cooperative Principle and Politeness Principle. This research belongs
to qualitative study by applying pragmatics approach.
The data of this research are manga Shin Chan which are taken from 10 selected
data which contain humor in volume 12 and 13 by using purposive sampling.
Furthermore, those data are analyzed by using Speech Act by Searle (1969),
Cooperative Principle by Grice (1975) and Politeness Principle by Leech (1983)
and Politeness Maxim by Yule (1996).
Based on the analysis of this research, it can be concluded that 4 speech acts
cover this research, like those are 4 directive speech acts, 1 commisive speech
act, 4 expressive speech acts, 2 representative speech acts. In the politeness
principle by Yule (1996) this analysis covers 6 maxims which are flouted or
fulfilled. The analysis covers 2 flouting of tact maxim, 2 flouting of generosity
maxim, 1 suspending and 4 flouting of approbation maxim, 1 flouting of
agreement maxim and 1 flouting of sympathy maxim. There are 4 types of
politeness strategies that are used in this analysis. Those strategies are Off
Record, On Record, Bald On Record and Negative Strategy. In the cooperative
principle, the analysis uses 4 maxims, which are flouted or fulfilled. The analysis
covers 7 flouting of quality maxims, and 2 fulfillments of quality maxims, 3
flouting of quantity maxims, 1 flouting of relevance maxim, and 1 flouting of
manner maxim. Implicatures cover all data.
