Abstract
The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of teaching
reading by using QPRR (Questioning, Predicting, Reading, Reflecting) strategy
for senior high school especially at X grade students of SMA PGRI 1 Taman
Pemalang in academic year 2014/2015. This research used quasi experimental
research.The subjects of this reasearch were X MIA 1 as experimental group
which consisted of 32 students and X MIA 2 as control group which consisted of
32 students. The instrument of collecting data was test. The test was done before
and after the treatment, they were pre-test and post-test. The type of the test was
multiple choices which consisted of 30 items both in pre-test and post-test. T-test
formula was used to analyze the data. Based on the computation, t-test result was
2.821 and t-table was 1.669 at the level of significant 0.05 with the degree of
freedom 62. It showed that t-test result was higher than t-table (2.821>1.669).
Based on the research result, it can be concluded that the QPRR strategy was
effective for teaching reading.
