The research was titled “Living Motivation Main Character in the Novel
Ranah 3 Warna by Ahmad Fuadi”, aims to describe the living motivation of the
main characters in the novel Ranah 3 Warna by Ahmad Fuadi and describe the
main characters personality in the novel Ranah 3 Warna by Ahmad Fuadi. The
living motivation of the main character contained in Alif characters were analyzed
by using the needs theory of Abraham Maslow’s.
The method used in this research is descriptive analysis, this method is
conducted by describing the facts and then followed with an analysis has been
given additional. The approach to the psychology literature, the main character
describes living motivation of corner of the desert of psychology literature that is
based on the object of research is the novel Ranah 3 Warna by Ahmad Fuadi.
Result of the research toward living motivation of the main character in
this research include: physiological needs, safety needs, the need for recognition
and affection, esteem needs, cognitive needs, aesthetic needs, and selfactualization
needs. Description of the main character's personality analysis
namely physiological needs spawned independently private and unyielding; safety
needs spawned intrepid; recognition needs and personal affection spawned
solidarity; personal esteem needs spawned confidence; cognitive needs spawned
unyielding personal; aesthetic needs spawned personal confidence; personal selfactualization
needs spawned confidence. The factors that make up the main
character’s personality is genetic and environmental factors.
