Abstract

This study attempts to investigate the challenges English teachers face in providing feedback in English classes in junior high schools and the strategies they use to overcome these challenges. This qualitative research uses thematic analysis to analyze data obtained from the results of semi-structured interviews with three English teachers. Three EFL teachers were selected based on their teaching experiences and their status as professional teachers. The findings in this research show that teachers face two main challenges in providing feedback, such as students' competence and students' attitude. Apart from that, this research also discusses strategies used to overcome these challenges, such as collaborative learning and motivational feedback. This research is expected to provide deeper insight into the challenges faced by English teachers teaching English, as well as provide recommendations for developing more effective teaching strategies.
