Abstract

This study aims to describe the form and functions of the expressive speech
acts of Setyarini PAUD teachers in teaching and learning activities. In this study, data
were collected in the form of words, phrases, and sentences that contained expressive
speech acts and the source of the data for this research was the utterances of Setyarini
PAUD teachers and students in teaching and learning activities in November 2022
and Januari 2023. Data obtained using the data collection method used is using the
Free Involvement Profession Listening (SBLC) method by using recording
teachniques to record all the informants utterances from teahers and students and
also using note-taking teachniques. The results of this study indicate that three forms
of expressive speech acts were found, namely consisting of direct literal speech acts,
literal indirect speech acts and non-literal direct speech acts. This can be seen from
the 63 incoming data, consisting of 23 teacher speech acts direct literal, 4 teacher
speech data perform literal indirect speech acts, 12 teacher speech data perform non�literal direct speech acts, 21 student speech data perform literal direct speech acts,
and 3 student speech data perform literal indirect speech acts. Related to the function
of expressive speech acts, this study found four types of functions, namely 32 data
welcome (saying greetings), 3 data apologize (apologize), 21 data happy (fun), and 7
data regret (expressing anger)
