Current communication advancements have experienced rapid progress,
including the use of mobile devices suchas smartphones. Aside from being used for
making calls and sending quick messages, smartphones today canalso be utilized to
access the internet anywhere and anytime, including on social media platforms.
Instagram isone of the most widely used social media platforms at present. Among the
multitude of Instagram users worldwide, a considerable number exploit it for criminal
activities, including fraud. This study involves analyzing ascenario of conversation
within the application, particularly focusing on the deletion of conversations within
theapp. Data from each experiment will be extracted using MOBILedit Forensic
Express Pro and SysTool SQLiteViewer, employing the NIST SP 800-101 method,
which encompasses phases like preservation, acquisition,examination analysis, and
reporting. After this, further analysis is conducted to validate the usability of this data
inunveiling a case. The objective of this research is to analyze the handling of false
giveaway cases by presentingevidence data derived from the Instagram application.
The findings from this research can be instrumental inenhancing the understanding
of techniques for revealing digital evidence in cases of false giveaway scams.
