Abstract
Environmental care character education is the cultivation of students' character
about their concern for the environment for a healthy and comfortable teaching
and learning atmosphere. A healthy and comfortable school environment or
learning atmosphere can improve student achievement and creativity. The purpose
of this study was to analyze the implementation of Environmental Care Character
Education through the Gelimpah Program (Five-Minute Trash Picker Movement)
and analyze the supporting factors and inhibiting factors in the implementation of
Environmental Care Character Education through the Gelimpah Program (Five-
Minute Trash Picker Movement) for Class IV Students of SD Negeri 2
Karangtengah Wangon Banyumas. This approach uses a descriptive qualitative
research approach with phenomenological methods. The informants in this study
were principals, teachers and students. Data collection techniques using
observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis techniques
include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion
drawing. The results of this study indicate that the Implementation of
Environmental Care Character Education through the Gelimpah Program can
strengthen the environmental care character of students at SD Negeri 2
Karangtengah Wangon Banyumas. The aspects or indicators in running the
program include keeping the environment clean, diligently caring for plants and
not liking to damage plants, distinguishing organic and non-organic waste and
maintaining school facilities (toilets, classrooms, school yards and others) can all
be implemented. Factors that support environmental care character education are
the availability of school facilities and assistance by teachers. The factors that
hinder the education of environmentally concerned characters are student
conditions, tools and materials, family factors, and environmental factors.
