Abstract
Learning discipline is very supportive of student success in the future. The character of learning discipline forms interest in learning, on the contrary, without learning discipline, children need encouragement to be enthusiastic about learning. The low learning discipline of students is partly due to the increased use of gadgets. Parental supervision is needed to reduce the negative impact of these gadgets. This study aims to determine the effect of parents' role in controlling the use of gadgets on student learning discipline at SD Negeri 1 Purbasari, describe the level of student learning discipline and describe the level of parents' role in controlling the use of gadgets at SD Negeri 1 Purbasari. This research is a quantitative research with survey correlation method. The population of this study were fifth grade students and sixth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Purbasari, Purbasari and their parents. Data collection was carried out through distributing questionnaires with a Likert scale given to student and parent respondents. The questionnaire for parents is divided into dimensions of the role of parents as educators, mentors, motivators, facilitators, supervisors, and creators of a positive climate while the questionnaire for students consists of dimensions of discipline of behavior in the school environment, discipline of behavior in the classroom, and discipline of learning at home. Hypothesis testing was conducted using simple regression analysis. The results of data analysis show that there is an influence of the role of parents in controlling gadget use on student learning discipline positively where the level of student learning discipline and the level of parents' role in controlling gadget use are in the moderate category. This research is expected to be able to provide understanding for all parties both to students, teachers and parents in order to maximize the use of gadgets for positive things. In addition, the role of parents needs to be improved by developing themselves to improve the quality of their role in assisting children positively in the digital era.
