Abstract

The low motivation to learn at SD Negeri 1 Pengadegan causes learning achievement in social studies to be less than optimal, which can be seen from the low academic scores. The lack of motivation given makes students not pay attention when the social studies teacher is explaining the material, most students are busy with other activities such as drawing, chatting with their deskmates and lying down. This study aims to analyze students' learning motivation and analyze the factors causing the low motivation to learn in grade VI students in social studies learning at SD Negeri 1 Pengadegan. This study uses qualitative research with a case study method. The subjects of the study consisted of the Principal, Teachers, and Students. Data collection using interviews, observations and documentation which were then analyzed using Miles Hubberman's analysis technique which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study are that the low motivation to learn in social studies learning is caused by a monotonous learning atmosphere, limited teaching methods, and minimal use of learning media. Reflected in the lack of active involvement, perseverance, interest, independence, initiative in finding solutions, seriousness in completing tasks, and participation in providing feedback by students. Factors of low learning motivation of grade VI students include internal aspects such as physical and psychological conditions, external factors such as social interaction and parental support, and school factors such as teaching methods and lack of IT-based learning media.
