Bullying is a serious issue in the school environment that can affect
students' mental health and academic performance. At Muhammadiyah
Suradadi High School, the role of the Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers
is crucial in identifying, preventing, and addressing bullying behavior. This
study aims to explore the role of BK teachers in handling bullying at the
school, as well as to identify the strategies and approaches used in the process.
This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive
qualitative approach. Data was obtained through in-depth interviews with BK
teachers, observations, and documentation related to the guidance and
counseling programs at the school. The study participants consisted of BK
teachers and one student representative from each grade level involved in the
BK program. Data analysis was conducted using data reduction, data
presentation, and conclusion drawing to identify significant patterns in
bullying management.
The results of the study indicate that BK teachers at SMA
Muhammadiyah Suradadi have a crucial role in overcoming bullying
behavior. Bullying is now no longer through physical violence but verbal or
words and bullying can occur through social media, this change in bullying
may occur because the school environment is small, the small number of
students can also be a factor in reducing bullying cases. However, this study
also found several challenges faced by BK teachers, including lack of
supervision, because this bullying occurs not only in the school environment
but also outside the supervision of the school, so the school requires
cooperation between parents and the surrounding community.
