Children as growing individuals will absorb the character values they gain from their experiences, one of which is from reading and appreciating literary works. The content of the stories contained in fables for elementary school (SD) students must be selected according to the school curriculum. Children's characters must be formed from an early age. Children must be educated and accustomed to good character, so that when they grow up that good character is ingrained in them. The diversity of fables can be used as a means of forming children's characters. The aim of this research is to determine the intrinsic elements and character values in the fable 'The Story of the Exciting Adventure of Kancil and His Friends". This research is a descriptive qualitative research with content analysis. Based on the research results, several universal characters were found from the fable "The Exciting Adventure of Kancil and His Friends" by Atisa Desi Nurul Anggraini, including being brave, never giving up, respecting each other, being arrogant.
