Abstract
Background: Miana (Coleus scutellarioides L. Benth) is both an ornamental and
medicinal plant. The leaves of Miana possess various medicinal properties, such as
treating hepatitis, reducing fever, alleviating coughs and influenza, neutralizing
toxins, acting as an antiseptic, pain reliever, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant,
antimicrobial, antibacterial, and aiding in wound healing. Mung Bean (Vigna
radiata L.) Sprouts are the young shoots of germinated seeds and contain hormones
such as auxins, gibberellins, and cytokinins, making them suitable as growth
regulators. Stem cutting propagates plants by taking vegetative parts like roots,
stems, leaves, or shoots that are mature and productive. This study aims to find the
best combination of mung bean sprout extract concentration and soaking duration
for the root and shoot growth of Miana stem cuttings. Method: The research was
conducted from October 2022 to November 2022 at the Medicinal Plant Garden
(KTO) B2P2TOOT Karanganyar. The experimental design used was a Randomized
Block Design (RBD) with two factors: mung bean sprout extract concentration and
soaking duration. The concentration factor included five treatments: T0 (0% sprout
extract), T1 (25% sprout extract), T2 (50% sprout extract), T3 (75% sprout extract),
and T4 (100% sprout extract). The soaking duration factor included three
treatments: P1 (1-hour soaking), P2 (2-hour soaking), and P3 (3-hour soaking).
Results: The best combination treatment was T3P3 (75% concentration and 3-hour
soaking duration), which resulted in an average of 37.72 root strands, a root length
of 24.39 cm, and a time of 7.72 days for shoot emergence.
