Abstract
The issue in shallot cultivation is its low productivity compared to its potential,
primarily due to suboptimal cultivation techniques. One way to optimize shallot
productivity is through the application of White KNO3 fertilizer and
vermicompost. This study aims to determine the response of shallot growth and
yield to White KNO3 and vermicompost fertilizers. The research was conducted at
the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture and Fisheries, Universitas
Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, from October to January 2024. The method used
was a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with two factors: the first
factor was White KNO3 with levels: K0: 0 kg/ha, K1: 57 kg/ha, K2: 114 kg/ha;
and the second factor was vermicompost with levels: V0: 0 kg/ha, V1: 5000
kg/ha, V2: 10,000 kg/ha, V3: 15,000 kg/ha. The data were analyzed using
ANOVA followed by a 5% DMRT test. Based on the results, it can be concluded
that the application of White KNO3 fertilizer significantly affected variables such
as total leaf length at 10, 40, and 50 days after planting (DAP), and the number of
leaves at 30, 40, and 50 DAP. The application of vermicompost significantly
affected total leaf length at 10, 40, and 50 DAP, the number of leaves at 10 and 20
DAP, and bulb diameter. The combination of White KNO3 and vermicompost had
a significant effect on total leaf length at 10, 40, and 50 DAP, the number of
leaves at 10, 40, and 50 DAP, bulb diameter, and fresh plant weight.
