Abstract
Background: Sunscreen emulgel preparations that are applied to the skin have an
important role in protecting the body from various external aspects. The striking
characteristics of HPMC include odorless, white powder form, insoluble in hot air
but soluble in cold air. Cempedak leaves have various secondary metabolites such
as steroids, phenolic compounds, flavonoids and tannins. These components have
an antioxidant effect which acts as a cooling powder and brightens black spots on
the face. Method: Preparation of Ethanol Extract of Cempedak Leaves
(Artocarpus integer (Thunb) Merr.) using the maceration method using 96%
ethanol solvent. Standardization determination using water and acid insoluble ash
content methods and Phytochemical screening using Dragendroff, Meyer, and
Wagner reagents, Evaluation of sunscreen emulgel preparations including
Organoleptic, PH Measurement, Adhesion, Spreadability, Viscosity, and
Emulsion Type Test, Results: test The pH shows that the emulgel produced for
formula 1 is 4, formula 2 is 5 and formula 3 is 7. The sunscreen emulgel viscosity
test shows that formula 1 does not meet the viscosity requirements. Formulation 1
has a lower viscosity value than other formulations. From testing the spreadability
of the three formulas, the most optimal and stable spreadability was formula 3,
whose spread was normally in the range of 5-7cm. The adhesion strength test was
replicated 3 times, resulting in formulation 3 which had a value of >4 seconds.
Conclusion: in the pH test that meets the requirements there is formula 3, the
results of the sunscreen emulgel viscosity test show that formula 1 does not meet
the viscosity requirements, the test results in the table show that all formulas meet
the spreadability test requirements because they are in the range 5-7cm and the
results of the stickiness test the condition is formula 3.
