This study aims to improve the fine motor skills of Mutiara Bunda Playgroup (KB) children
through water squeezing activities utilizing sponge media. Employing the Classroom Action
Research (CAR) approach, this research consists of two cycles. Data analysis adopts a qualitative
descriptive method, gathered through interviews, observations, performances, and documentation.
Initial observations before the study revealed that out of 15 children, 7 (47%) were categorized as
Beginning to Develop (BD), 5 (33%) as Developing as Expected (DE), and 3 (20%) as Developing
Very Well (DVW). Following the water squeezing activity using sponge media in Cycle I, there
was an increase in the percentage of fine motor development among the children, with 5 (33%)
categorized as BD, 7 (47%) as DE, and 3 (20%) as DVW out of 15 children. Subsequently, in
Cycle II, data from the research indicated that out of 15 children, 2 (13%) were categorized as
BD. Consequently, it can be concluded that water squeezing activities utilizing sponge media
effectively enhance fine motor skills among children in the Mutiara Bunda Playgroup in
Randudongkal.
