Abstract

Shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) is a significant horticultural commodity widely consumed by the community. One of the challenges in red onion cultivation lies in fertilization practices. The application of vermicompost and liquid organic fertilizer derived from bovine urine could serve as a viable strategy to address this issue. The objective of this research is to determine the optimal dosage of vermicompost affecting the growth and yield of red onions, identify the most effective concentration of Bovine Urine Liquid Organic Fertilizer on the growth and yield of red onions, and ascertain the combined optimal dosage of vermicompost and concentration of Bovine Urine Liquid Organic Fertilizer that positively affects the growth of red onions. The experimental design employed in this study is a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD), with two factors: the first factor being Vermicompost (K) with three levels, namely K0: control, K1: vermicompost dosage of 130 grams, K2: vermicompost dosage of 195 grams, and the second factor being Liquid Organic Fertilizer derived from Bovine Urine (U) with three levels, namely U0: control, U1: Bovine Urine Liquid Organic Fertilizer at a concentration of 100 ml L-1, U2: Bovine Urine Liquid Organic Fertilizer at a concentration of 200 ml L-1. The observed variables in this study include leaf length, leaf number, bulb number, fresh plant weight, dry plant weight, fresh bulb weight, dry bulb weight, and bulb diameter. The research results indicate a significant effect on leaf length, leaf number, and fresh plant weight. However, there is no significant effect on observed variables such as bulb number, dry plant weight, fresh bulb weight, dry bulb weight, and bulb diameter.
