Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the EFL teachers' perceptions of isolated
grammar teaching and integrated grammar teaching. The quantitative method with
a survey design was used in this research. The data were gathered using a 5-Likert
scale close-ended questionnaire and were analyzed quantitatively to find the
average score of the Likert scale for each of the grammar teaching methods. The
average score was then compared to find the teachers' preference for grammar
teaching methods. It was found that EFL teachers in Banyumas had a preference for
using isolated grammar teaching to integrated grammar teaching. EFL teacherswho
preferred to use isolated grammar teaching viewed grammar teaching to have
repeated practices, presenting grammar to learners before expecting them to
practice the other skills, and practicing grammar structures to help learners develop
fluency.
