This study aimed to describe the forms and cultural elements of Sumba in the novel.
This qualitative descriptive research employed a literary anthropology approach. The
data consisted of words, sentences, and paragraphs containing the forms and cultural
elements of Sumba in the " Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam" novel by
Dian Purnomo. The primary data source for this research was the novel. The data
were collected through a literature review using observation and note-taking. The
findings of this study conclude that in the " Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan
Hitam" novel by Dian Purnomo, there are cultural forms of Sumba including (1)
cultural forms of ideas, concepts, norms, rules, etc., (2) cultural forms of human
activities, and (3) cultural forms of human creations. Furthermore, the cultural
elements of Sumba include language, knowledge systems, tools and technology,
livelihood systems, religious systems, and artistic systems.
