Abstract
One of the positively correlated factors with organizational performance is
employee empowerment. To enhance the performance of Budi Mulia
Muhammadiyah Elementary School, the concept of asset-based community
development (ABCD) is applied for the empowerment of teachers and education
staff. The empowerment approach used is psychological empowerment. The
purpose of this study is to describe the steps of asset-based community
development implemented at Budi Mulia Muhammadiyah Elementary School and
identify the connection of these steps with dimensions of psychological
empowerment.
This study employs a qualitative descriptive research design to portray and
interpret the experiences, perceptions, and behaviors of teachers and education
staff in the ABCD implementation process for employee empowerment. Data for
this research were obtained from school documents, the school's social media
accounts, interviews with the school principal, teachers, and education staff.
Qualitative data analysis was conducted.
The findings of this study reveal that the implementation steps of ABCD:
asset mapping, asset interconnection, asset mobilization, group formation, and
utilization of external assets are related to the dimensions of psychological
empowerment: value, competence, determination, and impact. The application of
ABCD contributes to the psychological empowerment of teachers and education
staff at Budi Mulia Muhammadiyah Elementary School Adiwerna.
