Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of gender diversity, public ownership and institutional ownership on the performance of companies with intellectual capital as an intervening variable. This quantitative research was obtained from the financial reports and annual reports of banking companies in Indonesia for the 2017-2021 period. The sampling technique used in this researchwas purposive sampling and resulted in 42 companies with 167 observations. The results of this research indicate that gender diversity of directors and intellectual capital has a positive effect on company performance so that this research is in line with agency theory and resource based theory. However, the results of this research also show that public ownership and institutional ownership have no effect on company performance. This research also failed to prove that gender diversity of directors, institutional ownership has no effect on intellectual capital. Furthermore, this research found that public ownership has a negative effect on intellectual capital. The results of the moderation test show that only public ownership of firm performance can be mediated by intellectual capital. However, intellectual capital does not mediate the relationship between gender diversity and institutional ownership on firm performance.
