Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of Question-Answer Relationship strategy in teaching reading. In this study, a pre-experimental research approach was utilized, and the participants were students in the 8th grade at SMP Negeri 1 Kroya, with a total of thirty two students participating. The data collection method used is a test, which is divided into two, namely pre-test and post-test with a total of 25 items for each test instrument. The data analysis technique used was t-test. The findings demonstrated that the value of the t-test was higher than the t-table (7.33>1.645). Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (HI) is accepted. It meant that there was significant difference between the students’ reading comprehension before and after using Question-Answer Relationship (QAR) strategy. In brief, QAR Strategy can be one of effective ways in teaching reading
