Abstract

Amoxicillin suspension is one of the most widely used dry suspension
preparations. Amoxicillin is a group of penicillins that have poor stability in
water. Tbis causes the usage time limit (Beyond Use Date) to be very important to
know after being reconstituted. This study aims to determine the stability of
amoxi illin dry syrup based on usage time limit (BUD). The method used in this
study is uv-vis spectrophotometry. Amoxicillin dried syrup samples were
reconstituted by adding 50 ml of distilled water to each bottle. After the syrup is ready
for use, it is stored in two conditions, two bottles in the refrigerator
(4=0.50C) and two bottles at room temperature (25±0,5°C). After that physical and
Chemical tability were tested on day 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14. Viscosity test
result obtained values of 53.43 - 62.68 cP and pH 6.04 - 6.26 for samples stored
at room temperature, while for samples stored in cold temperatures of 52,50 -
67.58 cP with pH 6,05 - 6,29. The stability level test result on amoxicillin dried
Syrup samples stored at room temperature were obtained at 100.22% - 70.45%,
While for samples stored at cold temperatures obtained at 100.18% - 93.86%.
Based on the results of the study conducted it can be concluded that amoxicillin
dry syrup samples have a usage time limit (BUD) is 6 days if stored at room
temperature, and 14 days if stored in cold temperatures.
