Children are the next generation of families and nations. A child needs to get a good education. Various phenomena have shown symptoms of the moral destruction of the nation's generation that can affect the quality of Human Resources (HR). So the role of education as an agent of change is to change people whose behavior is not good to be good. So there is a need for Islamic education. One of them is Akhlak Akidah Education. The purpose of this study is to describe the learning of moral aqidah based on cognitive morals in improving the spiritual quotient of seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Purwokerto in the 2021/2022 academic year.
This research is a type of qualitative descriptive research with the subject of this research is the seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Purwokerto. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out in three steps, namely: data reduction which refers to the process of selecting and transforming data either found during research in the field, the second presenting the data, and the last drawing conclusions or verification and also re-checking or understanding the meaning, regularity, pattern- pattern, causal explanation or preposition.
The results of this study indicate that learning morals based on cognitive morals is closely related to the SQ (Spiritual Quotient) of class VII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Purwokerto. This can be seen at the time of learning aqidah morals based on cognitive morals more inclined to use the methods of reasoning, habituation, advice and punishment. Then applied in everyday life and made several criteria based on the sub-chapters on the syllabus of aqidah morality class VII even semester.
