This study aimed to describe mathematical communication ability viewed from self-confidence of the student of SMP Negeri 1 Banyumas. This was descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study were students of VIII grade, class F. It took 9 subjects where 3 students were categorized into each caterogy, namely high from high, medium and low self-confidence categories. In addition the data were collected using questionnaires, written test, and interviews. Student with a hight self-confidence category can master the three indicators, namely 1) being able to present information using verbal arguments, 2) presenting information using graphic diagrams, 3) and being able to express daily events in methematical symbols. Meanwhile, the students in the moderate self-confidence category are only able to master two indicators; 1) being able to present information using verbal arguments, 2) and presenting information using graphic diagrams. Afterward, the students in the low self-confidence category cannot master the three indicators of mathematical communication skills.
