Jami At-Taqwa Mosque in Gumelem is a mosque that is built from two different cultures; a blend of shape and style from Javanese traditional mosques which combines Islamic and Hindu-Buddhist culture. Jami At-Taqwa Mosque is the oldest mosque in Banjarnegara and becomes a symbol of the existence and development of Islam in Banjarnegara. This study aimed to reveal the history of the Jami At-Taqwa Mosque establishment, its architectural pattern, and its role in religious preaching and social field. Based on the objectives of the study, it was carried out using the historical method by analyzing events that occurred in the past. The stages included 1. Heuristics (finding and collecting sources). 2. Criticism namely external criticism (source authenticity) and internal criticism (criticism in terms of credibility). 3. Interpretation (interpreting series of data). 4. Historiography (writing history). The result revealed that the mosque was first built around 1599 as a meeting room for the Wali and it was then changed into a mosque building in 1812 until now. Second, the architecture of the Jami At-Taqwa Mosque in Gumelem is a blend of Islamic and traditional Javanese culture. The Islamic culture was brought by the village elders of Perdikan Gumelem and influenced by the Hindu-Buddhist culture as the Gumelem people's beliefs before Islam came. Last, the Jami At-Taqwa Mosque is used not only as a place of prayer but also as a place for having da'wah, education, and ukhuwah Islamiyah as well as a tourist spot.
