This research was conducted to find out the strategy used by students in learning vocabulary for the 8th graders SMP 1 Mrebet. This research was a quantitative descriptive method. The subject of this research was 30 students in 8th grade at SMP 1 Mrebet. The data were analyzed using percentage. The result of this research is (1) Almost all the students as respondents have used all the strategies that exist in the questionnaire and they marked each criterion from the strategy which is appropriate to themselves. (2) the survey result showed that memory strategy is the most used strategy with 29 students (97%) total respondents choosing criteria number one, two, three, and 28 students (93%) choosing criteria number four. It can be concluded that most of the students were not only using one strategy to master vocabulary but they used more than one strategy and decided on the best strategy to help them master vocabulary and me memorizing the most popular strategy among 30 respondents.
