Abstract

This research was intended to find out the motivational strategy
used by teacher at SMA Negeri 1 Padamara in teaching English vocabulary to
students and the problems in implementing the strategy in teaching English
vocabulary to students. This research used surveyqualitative method. The
instruments used were questionnaire and interview. There were three
teachers in SMA Negeri 1 Padamara that were involved as respondents
in this research. Based on the result of study, researcher found that all of
the teacher use motivational strategy namely giving praises, giving
score as a reward, creating interest. From the data researcher found
some problems that are if teacher give praise to students can degrade the
mentality of students who got low score. If teacher giving reward too
much can make students only focus on the reward and students too lazy
to noted the new vocabulary.Therefore, it can be concluded that there is
the implementation of motivational strategy had many problem but also
had many benefit if teachers implement this method in classroom.
